14th Factory
A multi-layered project, framed around an immersive art exhibition over four floors
The 14th Factory is a ground breaking immersive art experience developed in Los Angeles by Simon Birch. The innovative cultural experience redefines the traditional relationship between art and viewer. Based in East London the project transforms the lower levels of an existing commercial office building into a canvas for the collection, spread over 6500m2.
The arrival space is triple height, connected by a new open stair and lift and featuring areas for retail and restaurant. The split levels of the existing shell will be seamlessly connected via a combination of new lifts and ramps allowing step free journey through the labyrinth of imaginative installations.
The collection is viewed against the exposed concrete structure, enhancing the surreal nature of the artwork, its material qualities and precision.
New services are carefully co-ordinated to meet the demanding performance requirements of the basement space but discreetly placed to allow the art to predominate.
