Coin Street Nursery

This nursery in the heart of the South Bank is a busy and highly valuable asset for local residents. Our brief was to improve catering and office facilities, to upgrade internal finishes and to create new landscape features in the children’s play area.  Providing care for around 60 children every day, the nursery is in constant use and so the work was carried out over the Christmas and New Year break in order minimise disruption.

Work included the creation of a brand new kitchen within the nursery and a series of shading structures and planters on the terrace.  The fabric sun shades in red and yellow took inspiration from Haworth Tompkins Architect’s façade.

Reed Watts acted as Project Managers and Contract Administrators on the project and ensured that the work was carried out within the nursery’s budget and programme. Contracts were split so that long-lead kitchen items could be procured in time for the construction period.
