Urban Initiatives
Reed Watts Architects are involved in a number of exciting initiatives and ideas within the Borough of Kingston upon Thames.
Collaborators include the Community Brain, and its Director Robin Hutchinson, MBE, Kingston University, Buro Happold Engineering and the artist, Mat Colishaw.
We have completed public realm improvements to the south of the listed Kingston bridge, including transforming a local service yard into a new space for performance and trapeze.
We have assisted the local authority in its lighting designs for the undercroft to the existing bridge and continue to support the new bicycle improvements, Go Cycle, which we hope will ease congestion in this area whilst providing opportunities to engage more directly with the river.
Other works in development include a temporary mini golf course along the banks of the Thames to support local charities, new screening to the river front to provide shelter to external diners and exciting plans for a new museum, inspired by Ziggy Stardust and his local connection to the Toby Jug site in Tolworth.
