Garden Café

Our third project at the V&A museum consists of a new café and pergola structure for the John Madjeski Garden.  Surrounded by the beautiful brick and terracotta façade in the heart of the Grade I listed building, the simple steel structure defines a new space for seating as well as a dual-fronted café counter for Benugo.

Working with AJ Wells, we have developed a series of bespoke, green enamel panels for the double-fronted counter. Each of the 50 panels is unique and has been hand-made using a mix of three shades of green vitreous enamel. The panels, counter and pergola are removable to allow the space to be returned to its original condition.

The project has been designed in close collaboration with the museum and their café operator, Benugo. The entire structure was installed in just 14 days by S&G Shopfitters, Koyda Steelwork and Intracat Catering.
